The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) is the EU's central financial instrument to achieve the common goals for the development of rural regions in Europe. The EAFRD finances projects and measures that citizens and municipalities, companies, associations and initiatives implement. The aim is to keep people in rural areas and to support investments in rural areas.
Rural development in Germany is managed on a decentralised basis by the main administrative regions of the country through 13 Rural Development Programmes (RDPs).
