Improvement of humus development in grassland through site-specific fertilization
Concept development
It is claimed that it is not possible to build up humus in grassland and that this leads to a poor carbon footprint. Bavarian dairy farmers have been struggling with this negative image for a long time. The goal is to develop a concept that proves that with proper fertilisation and management, the CO2 balance in grassland is much better than its reputation. The project to be derived from the concept should enable knowledge to improve the yield and the formation of new roots in grassland, through an integrated considered site-specific fertilization. Micro- and macronutrients, as well as correlations between these nutrients, should be considered.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
