Barn of the future - “Dresdner Vorgebirge” cow garden
The construction of the “Kuhgarten” dairy barn is part of a larger investment project. The barn shell is being built according to the Serrestall (French: winter garden) concept. A steel frame and a newly developed two-component roof membrane form the main components of the building envelope. This is the first time that this barn concept is adapted to the climatic and terrain conditions of a foothill region.
Other special features include technological tests inside the facility. The heart of the “Kuhgarten” are free running and lying areas with the pasture-like "high-wellfare floor" and planting islands combined with
cubicle stall areas. The manure is removed using newly developed robots, the use of which is to be tested in the planned variety of floor conditions. This is therefore a particularly animal-friendly construction project that considers the consumer's desire for more transparency, animal welfare and environmental protection.
