WaterWise - Autonomous system for economical irrigation in arable farming with the integration of renewable energies while at the same time fining the
The distribution of precipitation over the year is clearly irregular due to the forecast climate change. Long periods of no rainfall reduce the harvest. In order to avoid crop losses, irrigation machines are already used in agriculture today, which irrigate the field over a large area with a water jet from a nozzle. As the periods of heavy irrigation, increase, the areas' water and energy consumption increases. From the farmer's point of view, this has led to the demand for irrigation systems that enable economical irrigation with as little water and energy as possible.
The development includes a supply station that enables the planned autonomous agricultural irrigation process and agricultural robots that are given a realistic ability to provide a scalable solution for behavioural practice. The supply station can be understood as a modern mobile field stable that supplies the robot with energy from alternative energy sources (sun, wind). In addition to the supply station, well-known robot concepts are being further developed in order to supply them with energy and water supply with the supply station.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
