The Soil Box

Project description

Together with all stakeholders, key issues and challenges relating to daily soil use were first identified. Building on this, the operational group tested practical methods that farmers can use to better assess the condition of their soil.

The next step was to develop a learning box for agriculture to transfer theoretical knowledge into practice. The result is eight themed boxes – from soil chemistry to aggregate stability – with informative magazines and easy-to-understand practical instructions. The content and design were developed in close consultation with the target group, and the boxes were then tested by farmers.

Results focusing on practiceorientation

Eight learning boxes have been developed covering key topics in soil science, from the basics to soil fertility. Each box has a uniform structure and contains a magazine, a practical tool, appropriate practical instructions, and worksheets for recording results.

The high-quality design – from the content to the packaging – encourages active engagement with the topic. At the end of the series is a 7-point program that allows users to analyze soil quality in a targeted manner and identify possible deficits. This enables measures to be derived for the long-term improvement of soil fertility.
