Pre-project on product development for innovative and sustainable organic plant-based drinks (oats, hemp and legumes) from thuringia
The requested project is a preliminary project for the development of novel organic plant-based drinks (milk substitute drinks) from regional, organically grown raw materials to strengthen, among other things oat cultivation and to establish sustainable, short value chains in Thuringia. As a result, the concrete implementation in practice is to be planned. The innovative approach of the plant drinks consists in the development and testing of new mixed drink formulations from different plant species (e.g. oat-hemp, pea-hemp etc.). The processing of the by-products in the food or feed sector will also be taken up. In order to be able to offer a safe, steady and sustainable product in the future, the processing and filling of the plant-based milk substitutes in a sustainable glass bottle deposit system or alternatives made from recycled materials ("Green Bottle") is targeted. The innovation area relates to Thuringia / Central Germany, where no regionally, sustainably and organically produced plant-based drinks are yet available.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
The project aims at the production of an innovative and sustainably produced plant-based mixed drink on organic basis. Only regionally produced raw materials are used to increase environmental awareness. For the grinding residues, a processing solution in the food or animal feed industry is sought. Through summer crops such as oats, hemp and legumes, the nitrogen reduction strategy is satisfied and biodiversity is increased. At the same time, the project stimulates the increase of ecologically managed areas.
