Project Title

Agricultural robot with hydrogen drive (AR-H2)

Project description

This project combines the multi-purpose agricultural robot of Al.Land GmbH, ETAROB, with the green production of hydrogen (H2) on the Schleupen family's farm, which operates a pilot plant for the steam reformation of H2 from biogas.

The aim of the project is the design, component procurement and system integration of a fuel cell in the ETAROB agricultural robot, as well as the accompanying research in coordination with the farmer, in order to use this innovative overall system in a farm with a hydrogen filling station and arable farming. This will provide initial insights into whether hydrogen can represent an alternative to fossil fuels in agricultural practice, particularly in combination with agricultural robotics.

From an economic point of view, the farmer would be able to further close his material cycles and become independent of diesel purchases. The farm can take this into account in its life cycle assessment.
