Regionally refined by-products for overnight stays
Concept development
When growing field crops, by-products are produced which have so far low added value or offer low opportunity for profitable use, such as paludi cultures on renaturalized moorland areas. At the same time, there is great potential for agriculture along Bavarian long-distance hiking trails by developing huts that can be built 100% sustainably and cost-effectively on farms. These could thus offer a simple, widespread and inexpensive overnight accommodation option for tourists and at the same time enable the processing of agricultural by-products (e.g. straw, hemp) and paludi cultures.
The project aims to find out how an overnight hut should look like in terms of its usability, design and financing so that it is as efficient and economical as possible for the farmer (operator), the overnight guest and for climate protection. In particular, it shall be found out in which quantities and in which regions these by-products are surplus and in which form they are best suited as insulation materials for the huts.
