Pasture manager Schleswig-Holstein
The aim of the project is to increase efficiency on pasture farms in Schleswig-Holstein through advances in pasture management. To this end, two Irish innovations – the Rising Plate Meter “Grashopper” and the Decision Support System “PastureBaseIreland” – are being adapted to northern German conditions in collaboration with Irish partners.
The project translates and regionalises a functional basic version, taking into account local factors such as sward density and the German feed quality assessment system. The system is being tested, further developed and validated on farms with different grazing systems.
The focus is on introducing a decision support system that has not previously been available in Germany. In addition, a pasture app is being developed as a communication platform for farmers.
