Natural capital (implementation)
Farms are under growing pressure from climate risks, volatile markets and increasing requirements. At the same time, services such as soil building, water retention and biodiversity are often not economically rewarded. The project addresses this opportunity by developing a farming model that actively builds natural capital, makes it economically usable, and thereby creates new income opportunities and greater resilience for farms. Three main results are expected. First, a practically tested farming system that specifically improves soil fertility, water retention, biodiversity and climate resilience. Second, an adaptation toolbox showing farms which measures are suitable under which conditions, which are economically viable, and how they can be transferred to other sites. Third, a model that makes natural capital not only measurable, but also economically usable, for example through better financing conditions, new partnerships and additional income streams.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
