ProRegio Insect - Innovation project for alternative proteins from regional insect larvae in piglet rearing (implementation)

Project description

The lack of protein feed leads to import and price dependency. In addition, the cultivation and import of soy and fishing for fishmeal are associated with very negative environmental consequences. The aim of the project is to integrate an automated insect larvae feeding system on a farm. The insect larvae are to be fed to the piglets in particular and represent a regionally produced alternative to high-quality feedstuffs such as fishmeal, blood plasma and soy. In addition, the market entry of insect larvae fattening in pig farms is to be strengthened by a concrete use case.
