Project Title

Sustainable weed control in grassland using an implement (implementation)

Project description

In grassland, dock, ragwort and other weeds cause yield losses of up to 40% and can even kill cows and horses. Since the EU organic regulation prohibits organic farmers from using herbicides, they are dependent on the strenuous and timeconsuming manual control with a chisel.

The project aims to develop an innovative implement for tractors designed for sustainable weed control in grassland, compatible with nearly any tractor equipped with a front PTO. It targets the control of dock and ragwort, which significantly impact feed quality and agricultural productivity. Since chemical herbicides are not permitted in organic farming, the device offers a technological solution by using AI to accurately identify and mechanically remove weeds, significantly reducing labor efforts.
