Project Title

Intercropping grazing - Innovative approaches to promoting soil fertility and cattle farming in drought-prone Brandenburg

Project description

The ‘Cover Crop Grazing’ project develops methods for utilising cover crops through cattle grazing. The integration of cover crop grazing is one way to increase soil fertility and reduce the effects of climate change on sandy sites. Summer and winter cover crop mixtures are being investigated, with a focus on feed quality, soil health, the value of the previous crop, and the health and performance of the cattle. The results demonstrate the advantages of a drought-adapted form of grazing.
