Digitization of climatic data using the example of the southern Lower Rhine Bight

Project description

The aim of Project DigiKliMAP is to digitally record and provide climate data to producers (P) of fruit and specialty crops, as well as to agricultural businesses, in order to optimize crop management methods and operational processes. These should be adaptable to the weather conditions at a precise time and location. This way there is a potential that yields can be increased while at the same time climate protection can be pursued by using water and other resources such as fertilizer and plant protection products more precisely and in a reduced manner. The core of the project is the establishment of a digital weather station and ground sensor network. For this purpose, weather stations and ground sensors will be installed, maintained and evaluated. The recorded climate data will then be used to precisely monitor the region using a digital platform. A community of producers for the use of this platform is to be built and expanded through workshops and events.
