Project Title

Management of truffle cultivation in Thuringia (Truffle cultivation in Thuringia 2.0)

Project description

The project aims to combine basic microbiological and molecular biological research with analyses of natural truffle sites in order to identify control options for truffle cultivation in Thuringia. The basic knowledge acquired in the first project (truffle cultivation in Thuringia) is to be expanded for the future through further site analyses, field trials and additional information from project partners in Italy and France. The long-term goal is to establish new regional value chains with different truffle species in agriculture, forestry, hospitality and tourism. In addition, the results should provide an innovative strategy for the geologically suitable locations in Thuringia that operate agroforestry in the wake of climate change.
