Project Title

Load-bearing straw bale construction - Determination of characteristic values and models for a general building authority approval (LaStrohBau II)

Project description

The aim is to develop static-constructive and building-physical parameters and models for a general building authority approval and general type approval for load-bearing straw bale construction. Building on this, standard construction solutions will also be developed and a model catalog for exterior wall constructions made of square bales for agricultural structures and buildings will be drafted. The findings from the first project (LaStrohBau) will be incorporated here. The added value and benefit of the project is therefore, on the one hand, the elimination of bureaucratic hurdles in the approval process. On the other hand, the “model catalog for agricultural structures and buildings” is intended to provide architects and building owners with planning aids and implementation recommendations to make it easier to implement a project for a structure used for agricultural purposes. The two-pronged approach described is intended to contribute to the spread of load-bearing construction with large-format square straw bales.
