Project Title

Development of a new method to combat paratuberculosis with epidemiology-based IT infrastructure (ParaEpi)

Project description

The aim of this project is to develop a new method to combat paratuberculosis. This is based on an epidemiological indicator that is determined from the results of diagnostic tests and the probability of entry. The novelty of the project lies in the fact that the control of an animal disease is not based on an all-or-nothing principle (free of the disease or not) to assess the disease status of an animal herd, but on a continuous risk reduction as a benchmark. The higher the probability that the herd is free of the disease, the lower the risk of the disease spreading from this herd. To this end, interfaces, databases, a specific algorithm and device-independent user interfaces need to be developed. The system will be tested on farms.
